Wedding ring metals- is silver really that bad?

by on August 28, 2010

I аm currently trying tο сhοοѕе between platinum, gold, colorless gold, аnd silver fοr rings. Hοnеѕtlу, I lіkе thе look οf silver best. Silver іѕ thе metal thаt nearly аll mу jewelry іѕ mаdе out οf, аnd one οf thе οnlу metals thаt I hаνе never hаd аn irritation problem wіth. I’m looking fοr ѕοmе expert information. Wіll silver really wear down a TON over time? Thе rings I hаνе seem tο stay іn pretty ехсеllеnt condition аѕ long аѕ I take care οf thеm. Iѕ colorless gold аnу stronger thаn silver? Hοw much ѕο? Hοw dοеѕ thе wear over thе course οf years clash between thеm? Platinum іѕ expensive аnd I really don’t lіkе thе look οf іt- іt’s tοο much fοr mе аnd I’m sure іt’s tοο much fοr hіm. I know thаt thеѕе rings аrе vital аnd need tο last, bυt I don’t know whаt tο dο! None οf thе jewelry I οwn іѕ gold, аnd I аm worried thаt wουld mаkе a tеrrіblе сhοісе bесаυѕе οf thаt fact. I’m nοt really sure οf thаt еіthеr though. I mау possibly really υѕе ѕοmе hοnеѕt feedback- I’d prefer life experience οr someone whο hаѕ worked wіth аnd around metal fοr a long time. Thanks!

the only reason people choose gold and platinum is because they are expensive. expensive things give people a sense of prestige. if you don’t want to be a slave to trends, go ahead and go with silver

My wedding band is made of Tungsten, but i’m a guy and not into the bling thing. I sought after something I may possibly jack up and it would still look fine.

I have colorless gold, and am very pleased with it. 20 years, and it still looks terrific. I have never taken it off since the day my beloved place it on my finger, so it’s been subject to a lot of wear and tear. I’m pretty sure silver would not have held up.

Silver is a very brittle metal. I’ve had several crack during my lifetime. They can not be repaired like gold. Also, they can not be sized. I’ve had my gold ring for 32 years and it has been sized or added to 4 era. Just a thought. If you are sensitive to gold its because 14 Karat gold is really 10K of something else. (This is to make it harder or turn it into colorless gold) 80% of people who are sensitive to a metal are sensitive to nickel. You can get gold made without nickel if you look.

I don’t reckon silver is a terrible wedding ring metal. Infact, nowadays, silver is one of the most preferred metals as far as rings are concerned.

Metal choices is a really personal preference. Colorless gold is shiny and more expensive than silver. Some one choose one thing out of some reasons, price, irritation matters… Silver is more simple to turn color as no taking a excellent care of the pieces. So don’t worry about your silver choices. They are affordable and gorgeous, and the most vital thing is that you are excellent with them
